Defining himself as a "figurative expressionist painter", Spanish-born artist Marcos Rodrigo considers the surface of the canvas as a material to be sculpted. Using the spatula to apply the paint, he proceeds with large strokes to bring color and light to his paintings. Placing the woman, her body, her sensuality and her spirituality at the heart of his compositions, Marcos Rodrigo explores his subject in its multiple facets. "My painting would like to be the mirror of what makes our humanity" writes the painter. In the depths of our aspirations, our emotions and our desires, the artist draws the material of his work. Essential social being, rich and polymorphic, the woman occupies in the paintings of the artist the same predominant place that it occupies for him in our world. Wishing to rehabilitate its role, its rights or its status sometimes victim of injustice, Marcos Rodrigo draws the portrait of the woman in the range of its qualities: strong or fragile, courageous, dreamer or rational, whether she lives in the real or the dream world, she is for the artist the first being in life as in the universe of creation, the inspiration, the muse: "I modestly try to give her back a part of the richness that she lavishes us from the moment she offers us life".\n
