Born to an Italian mother, Felix grew up in Argentina. He began studying architecture at the University of Buenos Aires while at the same time attending various workshops of renowned painters, where he took his first steps towards becoming an artist. He began exhibiting as a painter and artist in Argentina. But eventually he heard the call of his roots and he decided to go back to the "old world". He chose Paris, where he would begin his career again as an architect and visual artist.
Felix works in layers that fit together and interfere with each other, creating a series of encrypted messages in the background. The artist composes and recomposes his works by juxtaposition and layering of printed sheets and pictures. The pictures are ultimately just a tool, a commodity to exploit more fully his creativity. He reworks the images by digital scanning: major surgery for some of his characters, complete recreation for others. He reinvents his stories through the manipulation of old photos. For him this is an expression of his obsession for all things from the past.
Painting with oils allows the artist to play with transparency. He uses scraping and different application methods to produce a final surface full of information to decipher. Thanks to this very special ritual, Felix manages to introduce the viewer into his world where there is a certain mystery, and where old clichés come to life.
Felix’s technique is very present in his art. We discover many rough edges, which give texture to and enhance his paintings. He also hides phrases, words and verbs. Additions of colors, rips and things off balance animate the background. One must come closer and look for small hidden details.
Thus the artist invents and plays with codes. He designs a very unique artistic language: the past seen without melancholy.
