Bercé Busson Cécile | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Cécile has always drawn, encouraged by her friends and family. At the age of 6, she began attending art workshops for children under 15 at the Museum of Decorative Arts under the direction of Pierre Belvès (illustrator).\n Won over by this experience, she began studying graphic design and visual communication. She worked in advertising for several years until she decided to devote herself exclusively to painting in 1993.\n Her work focuses on finding the emotions drawn from simple daily life: children, women, and their relationships. Nature and daydreams are her sources of inspiration.\n Cécile’s painting is not strictly figurative. She does not seek realism but an interpretation of memory: a world that is both close to us and at the same time, the flipside. She chooses not to give faces to her portraits in order to give free rein to the imagination. Anything too figurative would lock her painting into one single interpretation. Sensitive to nature, she develops floral motifs. Her still life works are quiet, tender and beloved. She wants above all to arouse emotions. The evocation of a closed universe echoes a childlike introspection.\n She paints in acrylics on canvas or on wood and may. Composition and color harmony are essential to her work. Her most important sources of inspiration remain the visual world in which we live. \n The early Italian painters, some Japanese painters of the eighteenth century (Katsushika Hokusai, Kitagawa Utamaro) and the English painters of the nineteenth century are all influences for Cecile. For ten years she has transmitted her knowledge through classes for adolescents.
