Valérie Brizard | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Valerie grew up in the Paris region and was not predestined to become a painter. She started training as a hairdresser and graduated in 1988. During this training she became passionate about design and antique hairstyles. Little by little, she developed an interest in art and drawing. \Not having found her way yet, she multiplies the "small jobs". \At the age of 31, her aunt (a painter) sent her an easel, oil paint, a palette and brushes. This gift awakened her artistic curiosity. \She decided to start creating and painted her first picture which she named "Le Petit village perdu". These first steps in painting left her entourage doubtful. Despite everything, Valerie likes this painting which triggers in her an artistic fervor. From then on, she began to paint as a self-taught artist. At the time, her job as a salesperson was very demanding and prevented her from devoting time to her paintings. \At the age of 40, Valerie took up her brushes again and explored different techniques: oil paint, lacquer and acrylic with a preference for the latter. With a lively and dynamic character, she works spontaneously and appreciates the speed of drying. She plays with shades and gradations of gray, white, brown, blue ... that she punctuates with touches of bright colors. She traces with precision vertical and horizontal axes that bring structure and openness to her works. \She is inspired by the sea as much as by the land and creates imaginary landscapes and cities. She invites the viewer to enter her world and give free rein to her imagination. \nSince 2009, recognized artist, she participates in exhibitions and makes painting her daily life. The paintings of her beginnings have been transformed into an abstract and expressionist style from which chimerical cities emerge.
