Isabelle Philips Decramer | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Isabelle grew up in the southwest of France. At the beginning nothing predestined her for Art. She studied dental surgery and began working in a medical practice. By chance, she discovered watercolor during an internship at Claude Nicaud's studio (a renowned painter in the region). During her 10 years of medical career, she continued to paint and to follow various artistic trainings. At the age of 32, she took a professional break to devote herself to her children. Having free time, she enjoys painting. At the time of resuming an activity, the desire to devote herself to art imposes itself to her. Isabelle starts with watercolor which she practices especially outside, immersed in nature generating sensations and emotions. She continues her figurative work in oil (landscapes, still lifes, portraits) during a long period until the lines and the forms free themselves from any representation to tend towards abstraction. \The colors first come together in his mind and invite him to undertake a canvas. Then a first shape appears and the imagination starts to work. One thing leading to another, the composition progresses without ever knowing the result of this creative process. Despite the rules of composition, Isabelle's work is rather an instantaneous search for a balance that evolves until the final touch. She paints in oil by superimposing glazes to enrich the colors. The mists, the vegetation, the water and the mountains of her environment are perpetual sources of inspiration. Through this dialogue with nature through painting, Isabelle captures the essence of the landscape and transforms it into an inner landscape, a reflection of her own soul. In a permanent quest for light and color harmonies, her painting does not seek to aggress or provoke strong emotions. On the contrary, Isabelle invites tranquility and serenity.
