Trying to understand the beauty and pain of the world through drawing and painting.
Having moved and changed houses many times during her childhood Céline spent most of her time drawing. After she received her baccalaureate with a focus in the arts, along with a Master's in history, she decided to settle in the Languedoc capital of Toulouse. There she spent ten years dealing in antiques and art. Since Céline specialises in dealing in painting, engravings and drawings, she enjoys spending time each day with experts in markets and auction sales. In addition, she received training in academic techniques in drawing and painting with the artist Jean-Philippe Escafre in his workshop Imagerie. This classical learning made it possible for her to acquire great mastery in the representation of her subjects in order to build her own visual universe.
The theme of movement takes central stage in Céline's artistic works. She mainly makes her canvases using oil paint, which she works by superimposing glazes or by using the "a fresco" technique in order to recreate the harmonious positions of the dancers and acrobats. Céline is especially fascinated by the demonstration of bodies that have been moulded to partake in many contemporary circus numbers and she takes great pleasure in painting theses "athletes/artists originating from a practice born in popular entertainment" and in revealing the "relationship they have with their body in order to serve the show." She interweaves poetry and sensitivity and her visual approach is entirely devoted to using classical techniques in order to express contemporary realities.
