Ogulcan Kus | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

  • Ogulcan Kus | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography
Ogulcan Kus
  • Turkey
  • Painter

There's such a huge sense of "us against them" nowadays that I think everyone, including the art world, has to create bonds rather than focus on the differences.
Ogulcan Kus set sail from Turkey to New York where he studied at Marymount Manhattan College. He got his Bachelor of Arts and began his career in the art world: art administrator, gallery rep, artist assistant etc. His work funded his Brooklyn studio so he could launch his art career. The artist has several strings to his bow and is as comfortable working with acrylic as with sculpture or film, blending his Turkish heritage with American pop culture.
He draws inspiration from conceptual artists such as Bruce Nauman, Jenny Holzer, Keith Haring and Julie Curtiss as well as cartoonists like Chris Ware and Daniel Clowes. His artworks stand out for his signature sharp edges and bold images. They capture his experiences, dreams and thoughts in patterns and bright colours. Ogulcan Kus creates abstract patterns and images straight from his imagination or subconscious before he joins all the dots between them to bring a unique piece to life.

Currently this artist is only exhibited in our online gallery.
