Suna Ahmet | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

A graduate in Fine Arts from the University of Uludag in Turkey, Ahmet was "supported from a very young age by a couple of drawing teachers [who] had a considerable influence in the conquest of [his] imagination". Immersed since childhood in an environment that was all about the continual enrichment of creativity, it is only natural that Ahmet would choose to dedicate his life to the pursuit of his artistic practice. He opened his first studio in 2003 in the city of Mersin, Turkey, then moved to France eight years later, to settle in Paris. Thus the painter projects his emotions on the canvas, without any preliminary sketch, in order to let the forms and textures express themselves freely. Using his spatulas and brushes, he creates impressive compositions, intuitive and sensitive, which refer to many of his favorite themes, such as life - marine in particular -, nature and landscapes. Appreciating the flexibility and speed of execution offered by acrylic painting, Ahmet interprets and arranges on his canvas countless creatures, architectural elements and other realistic subjects or projections of his mind, in bold plays of volume and perspective. Bathed in light and always endowed with relatively intense colors, Ahmet's works invite us to enter a dreamlike world, beyond the dream, where spirituality seems to come in contact with our own reality.
