Dubos Christine | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Christine was born and raised in the suburbs of Bordeaux. After a degree in plastic arts, she travels around the world for several years (Latin America, Europe, Asia). Her one-year stay in Mexico was decisive for her artistic career. On the high plateaus of the quasi-desert region of San Luis de Potosi, she devotes herself with fervor to creation. She draws and paints in the form of travel journals. The artist is passionate about pre-Columbian art and the reading of the Popol Vuh (Mayan mythological text). The discovery of this culture leads her to take a closer look at signs and calligraphy, an important component of her work. She has been exhibiting since 1997. In 2006, she trained as a visual artist (CFPI) at the Ecole Supérieure d'Art et de Design d'Amiens (ESAD). Christine now lives and works in Bordeaux. Open to others, she likes to transmit her knowledge. She initiates children to art during workshops and participates in various cultural projects. The artist mixes different techniques on canvas (painting, drawing, ink, pastel, collage...) The sound occupies an important place in her creative process. She works with music, changing her style according to the mood of the moment (Cuban music, reggae, garage rock, ska). Many of her works refer to her favorite songs. \nChristine privileges spontaneity and accident. She likes to associate opposites. Most of her compositions are born from a game of chance (fortuitous mixture of colors, incidence of a line or a gesture, missed image). His art is all about suggestion and ambiguity. The artist paints the diversity of life (people, animals, urban landscapes...) by insisting on the vibrations of color. She transforms her works into visual narratives. \Rich and animated, her paintings offer themselves to the spectator like so many stories to tell, colored writings, improbable landscapes: "the words mix with the signs, the signals, the codes, the call of the street; the world undoes itself, moves, rebuilds itself, the adventure is within reach..."
