Isabelle Malmezat | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Born into a family of musicians, Isabelle evolves in an intense artistic context where painting, drawing, music, photography and all other forms of art constitute her daily life. Her journey is marked by various experiences: meetings, travels, music... After having practiced different jobs, painting begins to take a real importance in her life until it becomes essential. She then decided to make it her profession and to live fully from it. Self-taught above all, she followed a training of Applied Arts then the Workshops of the Fine Arts of the city of Paris. For a few years, she alternates between the profession of illustrator and painter. She illustrated many books before devoting herself totally to painting. \Isabelle's work is commonly classified in the universe of lyrical abstraction (post-war modern movement). It is an exploration of materials and impressions where nothing is really revealed and where it is up to each person to find their own reading. This work is intimately linked to and nourished by music, essential to its existence. \There is no specific influence in Isabelle's painting. It is rather an inner journey that leads to a loss of reference necessary to discover the gesture, the impression, the line, the color and follow this creative path that guides her. She uses painting to find freedom and to say the unspeakable, to discover and surprise herself. Isabelle uses mainly acrylic, pigments, pencil and all kinds of materials recovered or found in her studio. The material is present, the graphic and plastic elements used become imprints, contrasts, lights, shapes and shadows... The canvas, once finished, takes on a life of its own and establishes a link with the viewer. Isabelle has nothing more to do with it, she is already on another road. For her, painting is the simplest way to express herself.
