Simplement E | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Simplement E
Emilie Ducret aka ""Simplement.é"" was born in Burgundy in 1980. Ever since she could hold a pencil, her future as a designer was completely obvious to her. Despite an artistic soul, Emilie kept her feet on the ground (the two full stops in her pseudonym are there to show us just that). So she began to turn her passion into a profession and took courses in Fine Arts in Nevers before earning a degree in Textiles and Printing in Lyon. After graduation, the artist worked in various positions and had different experiences in the textile industry. She worked as a colourist, sample creator, collection assistant, and studio designer... But this 'jack of all trades' categorically refused to work in graphics, which is now an essential step in this field. For her ""drawing", should be done with brush, ink, markers... an irregular line, the spontaneity of a line or the intensity of a colour."" She would draw by hand or not at all! She abandoned textile design and created "" Simplement.é. ""To devote herself to her collage -assembly projects", which she has always considered as an outlet. Her mania for preserving, collecting and piling up things naturally pushed her towards this mode of expression. Her creations are born from a visual, a material, a text, a colour, a detail or an object that touches her sensitivity and unconscious and inspires her. Helped with all the images that invade our daily lives, the artist changes the first meaning of newspaper clippings, magazines, or advertisements. She changes the code and logic to create a dreamlike and surreal world in which everyone is free to imagine his own story. Filled with a ""bittersweet"" poetry, her paintings display their themes in their duality. Thus the artist mingles nature and city, sadness and hope. Always accompanied by her precious tweezers, she composes with her fingertips. With patience and attention to detail, she assembles selected pieces of torn images. Emily likes this tearing in its irregularity, its uncontrollability, ""like a subtle reminder of life that tells us that nothing is perfect, nothing is clean and you need to know how to move from surprise to surprise."\n
