Gonzalez Moreno Alejandro | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

The artist completed his studies at the Fine Arts Academy of San Alejandro (1976) and the José Antonio Echeverría Polytechnic Institute (1981), where he became familiar with all kinds of techniques (painting, sculpture, ceramics...). Specializing in museography, he participated in exhibition design for the Fine Arts Museum of Havana and worked for the Cuban Ministry of Culture. He continued specialized training in the museums o f M o s c o w , P a r i s a n d M a d r i d . T h e a r t i s t t o o k p a r t i n n a t i o n a l a n d i n t e r n a t i o n a l c o n f e r e n c e s . I n S p a i n , a s i n C u b a , A l e j o b a l a n c e d h i s w o r k a n d h i s p a s s i o n f o r p a i n t i n g b y p a r t i c i p a t i n g i n v a r i o u s exhibitions and art fairs. In 2012, he collaborated on an art project with the Pubilla Casas collective in L'Hospitalet near Barcelona.\nAlejo uses mixed media on canvas, cardboard or wood. He paints in acrylic and oil, sometimes incorporating strings, buttons, or different types of paper in the manner of a collage. His style is influenced by the important movements of contemporary art: Abstract Expressionism, Constructivism and Pop Art.\nThe Cuban artist is inspired by the Caribbean light, which gives a transparent effect to his compositions. His works evoke the vitality, exuberance, and the rhythm of nature and the inhabitants of the islands. Alejo starts with a disorganized and spontaneous idea. Then he structures it like a puzzle in a perfectly controlled composition. Accessible to all, his abstract paintings open onto a world of new and positive emotions. The shapes and colours mingle and mix in a joyful kaleidoscope light.\n
