The artistic world of Anne-Christine Wellenstein was born from the artist’s encounters with Japan. After her first visit during her education at the Ecole d’Architecture de Versailles, she returned 15 years later and strengthened her interest in the Japanese culture, its passion for design, its domestic architecture and the art of arranging its gardens.\n With the trace of this encounter left behind and influenced by its resonances, the artist’s work that mixes oil painting and the use of pigments developed a subtle game between the strokes and blocks of colour, the material and transparency. Anne-Christine Wellenstein’s compositions are like traces in the painting, those of past memories, fond places and tried and tested encounters. Attempting to fix a fleeting memory, the artist’s creations find their place between dream and reality, between history that took place, one that fantasised and the memory that distorts it.\n The city’s territory remains an endless source of inspiration for the artist that allows everyone to take their place high up, in equilibrium, like a tightrope walker cherishing a unique moment of contemplation thanks to its architectural power. As many points of view that from open windows, a new look at the visible, time, the essence of the world in which we live and cross through.\n Through her “outdoor” paintings, between skies, roofs and peaks, the artist thus seeks to take the necessary height to understand her own inner nature, to touch the moment when our thoughts are freed to travel further.
