Isabel Kehr | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Isabel was born and raised in Los Angeles (USA). She grew up surrounded by paper and crayons. Her family, sensitive to art, encouraged her to take courses in theatre, dance and singing. At the age of 10, she moved to Paris with her mother and continued her artistic activities. As an adult, she began studying international business while continuing with dance and painting. At 25, she moved to Béarn (south-west France). She joined the Pau School of Fine Arts, where she tried out illustration by creating ""retro"" and romantic characters. During this training her passion for painting was revealed.\n Isabel works textures, materials and colours with much sensitivity. She especially likes warm tones, deep browns, ochres and powerful flaming reds. Isabel liked to deepen the world of collage, a legacy from her father, who was a printer, and began to mix techniques.\n Isabel’s work (urban universe, graphic and poetic) is resolutely turned towards the contemporary. Pasted images are the basis for her paintings. The papers are redesigned and enhanced with acrylic. The work is carried out in order to create passages, corridors for the eye.\n Isabel likes to leave the viewer to find his own way when confronted with a surprising combination of colours and materials. For her, everything is a source of inspiration: a landscape, lighting, advertising... she translates them into forms and structures on canvas, paper or wooden structures. She creates her own language of signs, graphics and codes.\n She is looking for an assertive and thoughtful composition while leaving much to chance. These accumulations of background images in her works witness the world as it is today. Isabel is now dedicated to painting and is involved in the visual arts in several establishments (schools, libraries, associations).
