Tayun | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

  • Tayun | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

"Form is important but the main thing is the essence and nature of the work".

Tayun was born in Taiwan and graduated from the national Fine Arts school. After studying at university, she opened her own photography studio in Taiwan, enjoying the immediacy of the photographic medium. At the same time, she continued to create works using her favourite techniques: oil painting, which gave her complete freedom, and water colour, for its dynamic inspiration. She is also skilled in using India ink, delicately sketching out works on rice paper. She arrived in France at the age of 34, and gave drawing and painting lessons, while pursuing her creative work.

Her philosophy of a serene, simple life is conveyed in works expressing the peace and calm that are features of Asian cultures. In her art, Tayun takes inspiration from her Taiwanese roots and renews the spirituality of Laozi. But Asia is not her only source of inspiration, since her travels and life experiences, especially in Portugal and Norway, have influenced and expanded her art, which she wants to be rich and varied. The guiding thread of her creations, however, is always based on a spiritual serenity that Tayun safeguards and to which she adds her own sensibility.
