"Art is the reflection of the human soul dazzled by the splendour of beauty." Victor Hugo.
Art has always been part of Sylvie's life. As soon as she was old enough to pick up a pencil and a paint brush, she knew that painting would be her deep and unchanging vocation. Each step in her artistic development represents a discovery, a progression she shares with her husband, her unfailing supporter. For 4 years, she lived in Zaragoza in Spain, working as a painter and decorator for shop windows and restaurants. She was attracted by trompe-l’œil and hyperrealism in her youth, before choosing figurative art, which in some ways asserted itself when she moved to the Gulf of Morbihan. The landscapes of Brittany and their romantic poetry fulfilled the soul of an artist who loves untamed and unspoilt nature. Sylvie has taken part in a wide range of exhibitions and her work is sold both in France and abroad.
Totally self-taught, she tried her hand at several techniques before taking up oil painting, which she loves for several reasons, including its special odour. The time it takes for the oil paint to dry is a chance for her to fine-tune, to sculpt her landscapes anew. Sylvie mainly uses paint brushes but also turns to original tools, such as sponges and combs, to achieve the desired results. She uses the "fat over lean" painting principle, consisting of applying several layers of paint one after the other. Her palette contains 13 main colours, and she covers each of her works with a satin varnish. Brittany, where she lives, is an endless source of inspiration. She rests her gaze and soaks up the light and the landscapes before returning to her studio, where she expresses the emotion she felt on the canvas.\n
