David Fleming's compositions almost flirt with surrealism. Considering nature and the outside world as his true creative studio, the artist paints on the spot, in the open air, "the moment to the moment" in his own words. Sometimes made from photographs or preliminary drawings, his oil paintings mix reality and a teeming imagination.Beauty is the primary quest of the artist. It represents for him the power and fragility of existence, this incredible contradiction at work in man and in nature: "My art speaks of the beauty that I see and feel. What the viewer experiences in my work is the power and fragility of the spectrum of existence; life, death, creation and the in-between. From the air or in the wind, his compositions capture an ephemeral moment, the flight of a bird, falling leaves, hair caught in the swirl of the breeze. During his travels around the world, the artist gathers his memories and emotions and composes what he calls a new memory, inescapable, powerful, which comes to engrave in the painting a moment forever disappeared.
