Dominique Draussin | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Before becoming passionate about painting, Dominique was first interested in drawing. Her best grades as a high school student were in fine arts. During her teenage years, drawing was the only activity that found favor in her eyes. She discovered the techniques of the discipline (study of plaster casts, sketching of nudes, etc.) in various Parisian workshops. Then she acquired the classical basics in the Baudry workshop, with a demanding teacher whose encouragement reinforced her choice to become an artist. \However, life's ups and downs postponed the fulfillment of her dream. She left Paris for the South of France where she worked at various jobs: horticulturist, hostess, saleswoman, etc. Fifteen years after this change of life, she started to draw again and discovered painting. Everything followed after her first exhibition in 1989 in Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes). Since then, the artist multiplies the opportunities to promote her art and maintains a collaboration with German gallery owners. \Dominique works mainly with acrylic paint in many successive layers, more or less diluted. Oil pastels, pencils and pigments are also among her favorite materials. Color is for her an inexhaustible field of research and pleasure. Her mastery in the application of touches and the juxtaposition of colors allows her to combine with subtlety the force with the softness. \Poetry, delicacy and modesty are inseparable from Dominique's work. The humanist artist invites the public to immerse itself in his compositions. Comfortably "installed" in the frame, the spectator can then let his imagination wander and leave to discover intimate territories. \n
