Dooshii | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Dooshii was attracted to painting from a very early age, and was trained in the practice of plastic arts during his school years. His grandfather taught him the basics of calligraphy. The practice of this ancestral graphic discipline will inspire him for a long time, so much so that he will choose to keep its techniques for the realization of his future artistic projects. In 2007, he joins the University of Nankai where he will follow a teaching dedicated to graphic design and visual communication. Curious about all forms of art, Dooshii constantly seeks to enrich and diversify his knowledge and experience in order to keep the stimulating energy of this environment and, thus, to transmit it through his works.ìWorking from inks applied with a brush on rice paper, the artist strives to develop, assiduously and patiently, his personal practice, resolutely turned towards the contemporary. Although Dooshii uses materials and tools from traditional Chinese graphic arts to create his works, they are in keeping with a modernity that breaks with the preoccupations of Chinese artists of his generation. "Circle Series" is a project intimately impregnated with the thought of the famous Chinese philosopher Lao-tzu (6th century B.C.), founder of Taoism. Formed from only concentric figures, the subjects are drawn and revealed as they are executed, to constitute a harmonious and homogeneous whole. At the convergence of cultural heritage and modernity, Dooshii reinterprets the philosopher's work by integrating his own vision, thus offering his public a second reading of these fundamentals.
