Eléonore Zuber | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Eléonore Zuber
  • France
After a quick passage at the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Sevres Workshop in Paris, Éléonore earned entrance to the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg. She chose to study illustration and attended the classes of Claude Lapointe with great attention. In her fourth year she created an association with her illustrator friends to exhibit and promote their work. In 2004, with her degree in her pocket, she self-published a series of books about the state of mind of a young (""Lorsque…""), and the funny and eccentric skits were noticed by a publisher. \n Designer, author, illustrator, blogger, Éléonore has more than one trick up her sleeve. The bubbly artist humorously calls herself a ""maker of drawings, gadgets and books."" Her graphic universe is in part influenced by her four years in the United States (from 4 to 8 years old). The images of her childhood (cereal packets, educational programs like Sesame Street and Pee-wee's Playhouse...) reappear in her work as fond memories. Éléonore walks in the footsteps of her favourite illustrators: Roald Dahl (English writer, twentieth century), Richard Scarry (American author and illustrator, twentieth century), Shel Silverstein (American author, composer, writer, actor and director), Raymond Briggs (illustrator and writer). Her characters have the simplicity of the famous Barbapapa characters, designed by Annette Tison and Talus T a y l o r .
