Kellestom | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

From travel comes inspiration... An assertion to which Kellestom fully adheres, drawing many of his own from his wanderings around the world. His sources of creations are nourished by his encounters in China, Latin America, the United States or in South-East Asia. They bring to her work this look at the unknown, its discovery, its study, the sensations gathered during these shared moments. In addition, she needs to master her technique. A graduate of the Beaux-arts de Paris, Kellestom considers that artistic creation does not depend solely on talent and imagination, but is also the fruit of training and apprenticeships. Playing with finesse with flat tints and shades, from light to dark, depending on the texture and slight asperities of the material desired, she uses oil, acrylic, mixed media or collage. In particular those which attest of the human presence, in the tumult or the shudders. Thus, on these canvases, she makes appear characters as fleeting as eternal, which seem to emerge from a latent reality, from the mesh of the atmosphere. The exploration, the observation of the cities and the men around the world constitute a source which feeds her imaginative vein. From there are born these universes that we find in his work. Some of his creations are like an external view of one who does not belong to a place but who is likely to bring an original interpretation of this place and the people who live there. A representation of another dimension where faces, shadows, outstretched hands spring from an underlying reality, sleeping behind appearances. These explorations of "the human", of his environment, of his cultures are revelations that Kellestom prints on his canvases... With always, as first concern, the sharing with the public become the observer of his work.
