Nancy Eckels | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Nancy Eckels
  • United States of America (the)
Nancy Eckels' passion for the shapes, colors and beauty of nature comes from the treasures of the American National Parks, which the artist fell in love with at an early age. With her parents, a photographer and painter, the artist built a sensitive education, a visual intelligence and a visual identity outside of the conventional art schools. Training alongside abstract painters Katherine Chang Liu, Carole Barnes and Pat Dews, she practiced experimental and non-formal art. Nancy Eckels' creations come to life at the heart of what the artist calls the "mental zone", a sort of inner world from which she draws all the imagination and singularity necessary for artistic transformation. The operations of adding and subtracting paint, the addition of layers of color and then their disappearance, the scratching, rubbing and scratching of the material are the keystone. Nancy Eckels thus plays with color, its texture and composition, crossing combinations for the pleasure of rearranging. In the manner of layers, the forms come to be superimposed, hidden or highlighted like so many surprises hidden in the composition. "How could a painting be more original than coming from the mind of an artist... reflecting something never seen by anyone before? It is thus to a painting of the emotion that the artist devotes herself, delivering to us by there a part of her world and that of the artist.
