Nick Fedaeff | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

The Kazakh multidisciplinary artist began his career as a singer, composer and performer in Russia in 1988. Prolific and passionate, Nick spends most of his time sketching, whether in his studio in Auckland, New Zealand, or on his travels, on pieces of paper or directly on the computer - sketches that he will later use as the basis for his work. Using both oil and acrylic paint, and enjoying working in any format, Nick adapts his technique to his subject and his canvas to the size of the studio where he begins his creation. Interested in the study of the Great Masters of painting, the artist assiduously attends exhibitions and does not hesitate to use the processes of the time, such as the superposition of pictorial layers, when working with oil paint.His inspirations, Nick draws them as much from the observation of the achievements of the artistic world as from life and his dreams, trying to translate into images all the sensitive characteristics, conscious and unconscious, that any living being can feel - such as the feeling of surprise or amazement, the hallucinatory aspect of a dream or the absurdity of life -. The artist composes stories, either by reinterpreting the works of painters he admires, or by creating his own narratives, populated by chimerical subjects, always oscillating between dream and reality.
