Sylvie Jean | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Sylvie Jean
  • France
An artist at heart, Sylvie tried her hand at various activities before devoting herself solely to her passion. Trained in the techniques of the graphic industries, she began her career as an editor and offset incorporator in Carcassonne, before venturing out to discover distant lands between 1993 and 1999. During these years of wanderings and encounters that will lead her to travel the globe, from Europe to Australia, Sylvie lives from the creation and sale of paintings and jewelry. Back in France, she becomes professional in computer science and works for a communication agency for six years. Eternal insatiability, her creative sensitivity pushes her to follow, in parallel, several courses at the Beaux-Arts and to participate in the weekly workshop of the painter and engraver from Bordeaux Jean-Pierre Beyries (born in 1950). Nourished by her multiple experiences, Sylvie decided in 2008 to devote herself solely to the development of her practice. Since then, sharing her time between the organization of artistic workshops and the pursuit of her pictorial research, Sylvie has found her intellectual fulfillment. Deeply inspired by nature, the painter has based her research on "a restitution of her perception of reality. [Her] understanding of the various genres - human, vegetable, animal -, the search for all being."" Armed with her inks, acrylics and pastels, Sylvie draws tirelessly, seeking to lay down on canvas, paper or cardboard the palette of her emotions, in a constant search for balance and harmony.
