Valérie has enjoyed drawing since she was a child. As she grew up her love of lines and colours never faded and she began to consciously perfect her technique over the years, alongside her professional activities. She was drawn to artistic displines in general and took up the guitar, dance and Taï chi. Her adventure with painting began at the beginning of the 90s.

Working with a composition made of several materials - from oil paint mixed with various inks, from stain, gesso and pencil - , the artist applies her mixture on the canvas, with knives, spatulae and other utensils. Valérie always makes her pieces by laying them down on the floor and playing with variations of textures and compositions of mixed materials. It is only after the background creation is fairly far along that the painter begins to sketch her subjects. By laying down several successive layers using a variety of techniques - scraping, cutting, spreading, scratching - Valérie brings characters, animals and extraordinary creatures to life on her canvas. Thanks to the careful creation of lines and contours, her protagonists with coloured tones stand out from the background, without ever being fully detached.

She feeds on and is inspired by everything around her, and collects all kinds of sensations and memories that she then pours out onto her canvas. Her pictoral creations are full of poetry and invite us to enter an imaginary world, seeing each piece as a fragment of a global history.
