Georges Émile Denorroy is passionate about art and a tenacious self-taught artist, who has devoted himself to drawing and painting since the age of ten. Echoing the words of Salvador Dalí, who said he had written a book because he needed to learn to paint, Georges Émile Denorroy was able to perfect his technique and knowledge by passing on his expertise to his pupils. Therefore, he likes to hold work sessions in his studio in Vittel or at various venues across France on a regular basis, and has been doing so for more than thirty years.
Inspired by the works of American landscape painters, Georges Émile Denorroy focuses on examining the reality that surrounds him by providing it with an intense pictorial materiality using his many pastels and oils. Playing around with the effects of various materials in order to give more body and dynamism to his subject, he works by combining techniques on his canvas such as casting, projection, powdering, scratching etc. Through this heterogeneous contribution, the painter translates the noisy and stressful atmosphere of the urban cities that he likes to reproduce, interpreting in his own way the various elements that punctuate the public space. Coupled with this is his subtle and harmonious chromatic research that gives each of his landscapes a particular sensitivity.
In 2016, he was awarded the prestigious title of Master Pastellist by the Société des Pastellistes de France, which he participates with in a great number of group exhibitions.
