Jeulin Carole | Contemporary Artist: Artworks & Biography

Carole Jeulin was born in Paris in 1970. When asked how you became an artist, she answers that the mystery remains. However, Carole explains that her artistic destiny presented itself to her as an obviousness, a late revelation from which she could not escape. Her "essence-ciel" as she calls it, has long lurked and eluded her. For years, Carole and her aspirations played hide-and-seek, crossed paths, separated and found each other again, until the day when, "surrounded", Carole let herself go daily to creation. The experience is at the same time violent, soothing, frustrating, devouring; sometimes serious, sometimes light. She began by assembling various salvaged materials found at hand, before responding to her irresistible urge to color them. She glues her finds on canvas or wood, and then, as a true "creative omnivore", Carole puts them to good use in every way possible and imaginable. Each painting has its own style: acrylic for the colors, pastel for the softness, Indian ink for the contours... Paper of all kinds, charcoal, oil paint or even walnut stain, everything is material for creation and each element of her composition tends towards a common harmony. At the beginning, she was very prolific and generous in her color palette, but today she is more refined in her work. An eclectic character, the artist says she is close to singular art and appreciates the work of many great painters. From Van Gogh to Klimt and Modigliani (Dutch, Austrian and Italian painters of the 19th and 20th centuries), each artist moves him by his singularity. However, his main sources of inspiration remain life and the emotions it holds. Passion, childhood and the passing of time are what touch Carole the most. She paints instinctively the story that the canvas wants to tell her and most often looks at the world through the prism of femininity. The faces of her women reflect the human soul at its most beautiful and their eyes bear witness to the passage of time. Carole Jeulin always tames her "essence-sky", whose living matter comes to whisper to our ears.
