Moscow, a city steeped in history, attracts more and more tourists, always eager to discover its architecture, its historical monuments, its famous places with events of all kinds. Resolutely modern and ceaselessly growing, Moscow is known to be a city that never sleeps.

During a visit to Moscow, one must stop at the Red Square, visit the Cathedral of the Archangel, or simply spend some time in the Gorky Park. The Kremlin is also a building worth visiting for its palaces and historic cathedrals. The capital of Russia has become internationally renowned for its abundant history and its cultural places.

 

Moscow must seen

The Garage Museum of Contemporary Art is known for its monumental exhibitions. Its singular collection hosts artworks of all sizes, from small paintings to huge ones. The building itself is also worth seeing with its typical Soviet architecture. Photorealism drawings by the American Robert Longo will be exhibited from September, along with the inimitable work of Francisco de Goya.

For classical paintings lovers, paintings of Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso and Paul Cézanne decorate the walls of the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts whom architecture is inspired by the British Museum in London. Throughout the summer, an exhibition honors the 150th anniversary of the birth of the multifaceted artistLeon Baskt, who distinguished himself in painting, book illustrations or fashion and interior design.

As for young talents, the 5th Moscow International Biennale for Young Art – July 1rst to August 10 – whom curator and participants belong the young generation under 35, promotes contemporary art in the urban context. A unique opportunity to expand one’s artistic knowledges.

 

The events not to be missed this summer

 The TretyakovGallery presents the biggest concentration of Russian fine art in the world.It hostsexhibitions on both contemporary and historical Soviet artworks. A large scale exhibition of Ivan Aivazovskyis organized from 29 July to 20 November. Visitors will have the chance to admire more than 100 paintings of one of the most popular Russian painter, including the "Rainbow" and "Ninth Wave".

The Pushkin Museum dedicates its summer exhibitions to different Russians collectors such as Alexander Volodchinskogo. A different way to enjoy Russian paintings from the 19th and 20th century. Artworks of Ivan Aivazovsky, Victor Vasnetsov, Alexander Benois, Boris Kustodiev, or Levitan.are showcased from July 15 to  September 6 2016.

If you’re lucky enough to be in Moscow in September, don’t miss out the opportunity to celebrate the Moscow city days, celebrating the birth of the Russian capital. This year will mark the 869th anniversary with a lot of events including parades and free concerts. During few days,Moscow turns into a giant theatre and every inhabitants participates in this theater play!
