Today, we are focusing on Nicoleta Vacaru’s work, a young and talented moldavian artist, through her piece « Joreid ».
All of my paintings are part of my soul and I have a lot of favorites, but I chose “Joreid”.
At the moment, the perfect body and face is what inspires me the most. I am fascinated by the eyes, the lips, or the emotions the model expresses. I chose this model because of the position of her body and head.
Before I start painting, I find photos on the internet and print them in black and white. I imagine, from what the photos inspire me, the multiple colors I can use. The first impression I have about the model I paint is the most important. It tells me which temperature the painting must be: warm or cold. The eyes are very important in my paintings. They must be full of emotions. In this painting, I chose warm colors because to me, her eyes are full of hope.
The artists who inspire me are Jimmy Law, Anna Bocek and Andrew Salgado. I love the shapes they use and the feeling I have when I see their paintings. I would probably like them as a person too.
I used to experiment with a lot of techniques. At first, I was using oil paint and watercolor, but after college, I started trying everything: acrylic, batik, coffee, wine and string art. Today, I have two favorite techniques: acrylic and string art.
I love acrylic because this technique offers me freedom, as I can change the painting in progress without wasting time. String art is more architectural, so I love it because I have studied architecture. Straight lines as a whole create deepness in the artwork.
