"One of my artworks is displayed on François Hollande's walls"

17 août 2017

After making May newspaper headlines, the artist Catherine Duchêne answered to the Carré d'artistes questions.

If I were an artist? Willem de Kooning (1904-1997), Chaïm Soutine (1893-1943) or Rembrandt (1606-1669) for their incomparable paintings!

(Willem de Kooning)

If I were an artwork? I wish I were sculpted by the great master, Alberto Giacometti...

If I were a Carré d'artistes gallery? Amsterdam, to be as close as possible to Rembrandt.

Picasso or Van Gogh? Vincent Van Gogh without a doubt. Picasso, I'm tired of him... Van Gogh not yet !

If I weren't a painter? I would be sculptor or scenographer.

If I were a color? Blue... and all its colour shades.

If I were an emotion? The joy.

If I were a song? La Catherine from the Cowboys Fringuants. They seem to describe me when I was 27.

I I were an expression?  "Impose your chance, hold tight to your happiness and go toward your risk. Looking your way, they’ll follow”  René Char, poet and French resistant.

If I had a super power?  The ubiquity gift!

If I were a travel? The inner journey.

Si j'étais une langue ? Yiddish

You best artist memory? One of my artworks "La bonne étoile" has been bought and offered by Jean-Christophe Cambadélis to François Hollande as a departure gift in May 2017.

Can you describe your studio... Small, overcrowded, bright, colorful, creative and friendly!
