When Abril Espinoza was a little girl, she could draw for hours. In 1999, during Christmas, her grandfather gave her 100 pesos (€4.50), which she decided to invest in her first painting materials. Already armed with brushes, paints and canvas she embarked on a creative adventure as she pursued her professional career in mechanical engineering. 10 years later, she started her studies at a small art academy and there began her life as an artist..
Color for Abril is everything. As a painter she always remembers the color of any person or place, it is her main inspiration, as well as the customs and icons of Mexican culture. For this reason, she combines traditional elements and takes as a source of inspiration the great work of the master José Guadalupe Posada, and the beautiful "Tenangos" embroidery made by Otomi indigenous people, which are more than an ornamental craft, they are the reflection of their day to day. , of the environment and worldview of their ancestors.
