Fontana Claire

In my work, the aquatic element represents a beneficial element for man.
Following her studies in sculpture and painting at the Decorative Arts of Strasbourg, Claire Fontana specialised in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, Italy. She still resides there today, splitting her time between France and the peninsula where she has her own studio, which allows her to directly create her bronze sculptures on the spot. There are numerous foundries, around 8 to 10, within a 30 km radius around Carrara. In recent years, sculpture has made up most of her work, although she has always had a strong passion for all graphic arts in general, including painting and cartoons. In her family, many members practiced drawing (industrial), in particularly the boys, with the girls veering more towards painting.
The materials used by Claire Fontana for her models are clay, plaster, and wax. Bronze, glass and crystal are the materials of the finished product. Based on studying live models, the artist consolidates visual memory, sense of rhythm, proportions, balance and equilibrium. Her sculptures, made from lost wax, display all the elegance of the movements of the human body. When she uses bronze, her artistic research focuses more on the expression of moods. The aquatic element is also important in her work. She portrays it at as a benefactor for man. 2018 will be busy for the artist, who will have an exhibit at the Paris Contemporary Art Show.
