Painting comes from the place where words can no longer express themselves.
Cao Xingjian
Her career as an artist began with her grandfather, a draughtsman, and her young adult life was shaped by the urban influence of the 80s, when, living in Paris, she met some of the pioneers of what was to become urban art.
In her studio, Gil KD creates feminine works on recycled materials or aluminum, not hesitating to mix aerosol colors with acrylics, grease pencils and collages of posters she collects on the street.
Her drawings explore contemporary aesthetics to bring out the beauty and strength of the feminine.
Living in Paris in the 80s, Gil KD met some of the pioneers of urban art, and made her first artistic experiments, as there were very few women in this field at the time.
The aerosol can was her first medium.
Color remained her common thread, and Gustav Klimt's paintings her favorite works.
The influences of artists Raymond Hains and Jacque Villeglé prompted her to collect posters and incorporate them into her constructions.
In his studio, Gil multiplies mediums, tries out experiments and often paints with his fingers for a raw, almost savage result.
Her feminine figures are bold, free and fulfilled.
For her, creation is not only a language, but also a vehicle for powerful, colorful and positive emotions.
