Frédéric Le Guével discovered painting as a revelation, following an important encounter during his university studies. Fascinated by the world of art, he trained as a self-taught artist, soon exhibiting his work in galleries. Today, after 20 years of plastic research, he is developing a body of work around the sea that he describes as "abstract seascapes", between free gestures and emotional depth. His paintings are an invitation to escape, to dream and to contemplate.
The starting point for this work is William Turner, the 19th century English painter. Removing the superfluous to work only on the emotion of the immensity of the seascape.
I work with oils, brushes and knives. My painting is gestural, energetic and spontaneous. A main layer, followed by multiple layers of glaze.
