The best advice I've been given in painting is to always try and dare on the canvas.
Maxime's parents enrolled him in music theory classes when he was a child. But music did not fascinate him and he began to study painting and drawing which he had always loved. Naturally, as a matter of course, he later became a professional painter. Like a ritual, the artist enjoys composing almost every day, even if it is only for a few minutes. Creative and prolific, he exhibits regularly since 2001, alone or in group, throughout France. His works also go beyond the borders, notably to Spain or Luxembourg.
Above all, it is characters that Maxime depicts on canvas. His portraits, evocative and intriguing, with large eyes surrounded by black, do not leave indifferent. Spectators caught in the act, their looks challenge us. They observe us too, impassive, reflections of our own emotions. The artist works instinctively, always with a musical background, and usually creates several paintings simultaneously. Fascinated by red, he is careful not to abuse it, and rather takes pleasure in marrying colors and imagining new shades. Creative, he mixes techniques and plays with textures, shapes and styles. Curious, he is inspired by painters such as Warhol, Soutine or Klimt, and appreciates videos of artists in their studios. With his seemingly whimsical works, Maxime actually confronts his audience with others, the world and ultimately himself.
