To me, art influences life as much as it draws from it. I seek to invite the viewer to dream and to give him or her a feeling of well-being.

Miguel de Sousa procede de un entorno modesto y siempre supo que había dos caminos posibles para él: la fábrica o la pintura. De niño cambió profundamente tras descubrir a Dalí y encontró en la pintura una liberación que no encontró en la escuela. Su familia no apoyaba sus aspiraciones artísticas, por lo que decidió seguir su propio camino. Se formó como decorador y pudo satisfacer sus necesidades con su talento. Como creador de universos, pintó frescos para sus clientes privados, así como fondos para decorados de cine y teatro. Además, siguió construyendo su propio mundo y pudo dedicarse a su obra personal en 2013.

Miguel was fascinated by Chagall's dream world, by Dali's oneiric universe and by the bodies represented in Bacon and Schiele's paintings and began to create colourful and poetic works, populated by eccentric characters. He hates routine and works when the desire seizes him, allowing himself to take detours towards sculpture when he is no longer satisfied with his visual pictorial representations, going from colour to monochrome when he is afraid of getting stuck. He is self-taught and masters many techniques, which he uses and mixes according to his inspiration. His encounter with oil paints, watercolours, collage and pencil give his works a spark of life and a fascinating feeling of movement.
