I often start to paint my composition thanks to a first impression, guided by harmony and contrast. I create my paintings as if I were the painting.

Desde que era niño, Morten ha dibujado y pintado. Creció rodeado de naturaleza en una pequeña ciudad rural de Dinamarca. Estudió en la Escuela de Arte de Copenhague y con el artista canadiense Steven James Back. En la actualidad, Morten divide su tiempo entre su trabajo como asistente social infantil y como artista profesional. Le encanta el proceso de crear una composición que le permita expresar y captar su estado de ánimo. Morten intenta recrear en su obra "orgánica" los contrastes, la estructura y la composición que observa en los paisajes y en los procesos biológicos. Al igual que los pintores románticos, la naturaleza representa el estado de ánimo del artista. Morten no es un mero espectador; su propia introspección conduce a una obra abstracta que refleja su funcionamiento interior.

Morten mixes oil and acrylic and uses graphic design tools. His work is abstract and expressive; paintings are always begun on impulse, guided by the harmony of colours and contrasts. He leaves them to dry in full view in his studio and observes them for several weeks. Then he reworks them, repeating the process several times before the work is finally completed. He finishes his paintings with a few strokes of pastels. His paintings consist of several layers and therefore his works change dramatically through the different stages. These changes create the artwork and only through this process can the work be complete and harmonious. It is also a personal journey for the artist. The work is a reflection of his state of mind; the layers are the stages of introspection, the colours are the heart of his work and represent the mood.
