My approach is to modernize and revive the tradition of marine painting.

Durante su infancia, Natalia pasó tiempo con dos de sus vecinos, un ceramista y un pintor, que la llevaron a descubrir el arte. Ella también sintió el deseo de crear tanto con las manos como con el pincel. Creció en la costa catalana y absorbió profundamente el ambiente marinero. Fascinada por este paisaje, fue en busca del mar a otros países (Marruecos, Senegal, Italia, España). En contacto con los puertos pesqueros, los marineros y los faros solitarios, encontró fuerza e inspiración para su pintura. Al mismo tiempo, se apasionó por las obras marinas del artista Juan Abello, a quien conoció. Como era de esperar, eligió formarse como ceramista en la Escuela de Industria de Barcelona. Completa sus estudios con cursos de dibujo, pintura y grabado. De esta doble experiencia, ha conservado el gusto por el contacto con los materiales, así como los placeres del dibujo.

When she turned to painting, she decided to keep a manual aspect to her creations. She incorporates ceramics in her paintings, combining layers of glass enamel with the oil and acrylic paints that she applies with a spatula. This mixed media painting lends her work the shine and lustre of colours that is characteristic of ceramics. The juxtaposition of materials used allows her to create contrast between bright areas and opaque areas. Natalia paints imaginary seascapes, inspired environments in which she has always existed. She releases the seascape by giving lots of light, contrast and texture to her work. Her approach is to modernize and revive the tradition of nautical painting. Natalia uses a marine theme to convey to the viewer the feeling of freedom, strength and the will to live.
