Karen O'Donnell is an American artist born in Phoenix and based in Sedona, Arizona, since 2013. After a career in insurance, she rediscovered painting as a rebirth. Inspired by Sedona's changing lights, she creates vibrant landscapes blending emotion and spontaneity. Each canvas reflects a part of her essence, an invitation to see the world with wonder and poetry.
Karen O'Donnell paints in oils, on golden or orange backgrounds that she calls "confetti". This starting tone creates a luminous contrast, often visible in the sky of her landscapes. Her inspiration comes from photos taken in nature - a deer spotted by a trail camera, an insect in full flight or a sunset over red rocks. Her style is reminiscent of Impressionism, influenced by Gretchen Lopez and her own sensitivity to color. Each work is a visual surprise, where unexpected shapes sometimes slip in. Her paintings aim to evoke emotion and joy in the viewer.
