Shahine nació y pasó sus primeros años en Madagascar, donde sus padres trabajaban, pero rápidamente regresaron a Francia para la educación de sus hijos. Estudió en una escuela de comercio en París, donde su instinto creativo la llevó a realizar todas sus prácticas en campos creativos (textil, diseño). Volvía con regularidad a Madagascar, donde se sentía irresistiblemente atraída por el ambiente de los mercados: colores, estampados, pigmentos... Sus amigos y su familia la animaron a dedicarse a su arte y entonces decidió hacer de él su medio de vida, y así comenzó su vida de artista.

Shahine sublimates the colours through a respect of the medium, the handling of the knife and the brush. A judicious mix of tones produces a light that fills her canvas with life. She plays with daring contrasts, using oils with much respect for the majesty of this material. Her knife work is executed with vigour and spontaneity. Shahine uses the sensuality of oils to release an alchemy somewhere between serenity and passion. The richness of daily life, meetings, cultures and colours (like the red earth of Madagascar) are all emotions that mark her life and her work. Shahine's approach consists of expressing the visible world in her reflections and suggestions. Every day offers her a multitude of artistic propositions.
