I paint to slow down the speed of the world

Born in 1995, Therence Vergnac has been immersed in painting since childhood, influenced by his creative parents. After studying cabinetmaking and applied arts, he discovered the freedom of creating outside academic frameworks. One day, a former poster painter confided to him: "You don't need a diploma to be an artist, only conviction." Settling in the Dordogne, he transformed his garage into a studio and devoted himself to painting, which he saw as a space for experimentation, slowness and constant learning.

Therence is inspired by the everyday: objects, light, materials and seemingly insignificant moments. He finds in slowness and observation a balance against the speed of the world. Each canvas becomes an invitation to contemplate, to rediscover the discreet beauty of the present.
Painting mainly in oils, he works intuitively, blending spontaneous gestures with reflection. He looks for the right tone and vibrancy of materials rather than perfection of rendering. His approach is based on light and the sincerity of gesture, in a painting that is both lively and calm.
