The Catalan artist Josep Pozo is passionate about meandering around the streets of his country of birth, and in Barcelona in particular, and capturing moments in people's daily life and then attempting to transcribe them onto his easel. Driven by his desire to acquire the necessary skills to capture all the complexity of figurative representation, Josep attended the Fine Arts School of Sant Joan les Fonts where he learned classical drawing techniques and worked hard on mastering perspectives.
Josep is immune to the trends that influence his peers and enjoys developing his own style in a constant way and always by experimenting to attempt to advance his pictorial expression. Therefore, using fragments of printed-paper, which he cuts and then carefully assembles on a support made of wood, paper or canvas, the artist composes the foundation of his work. He then covers them with many strokes of paint, more or less wide, following a palette made of tones that are relatively bright and varied. Playing with shades and various layers of materials, Josep chooses to leave certain parts blank and to cover others only partially, which gives his works an even more dynamic appearance.
Therefore, for more than thirty years, Josep has been making original urban landscapes, filled with poetry that admirably marry painting with collages thanks to the subtle association of graphic writing that is resolutely contemporary with a sophisticated use of vibrant tones.
