Bonetti was born in Bulgaria to a mother who was an art teacher mother. He grew up surrounded by art books and spent several hours a day in the family library. During the summer, his parents took him around Europe and had him visit the major museums of the world (the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, the Louvre Museum in Paris, the Prado in Madrid and the British Museum in London).
As an adult, he followed in the family footsteps and earned an art degree. He moved to Canada and Europe and continued to study for several years.
From his youth, Bonetti retained a taste for travel and discovery. He finds each place, each landscape interesting. Confrontation with other cultures and the idea of rethinking his own values is an inexhaustible source of wealth in his eyes.
From all of his excursions, Bonetti keeps in mind moments he has lived or places he has visited. He transcribes these images through painting in a process of destruction and transformation. His creative process is the result of several layers of acrylic paint worked with a brush or sponge. He then covers his work with resin so that the painting is protected and unchangeable…
From the classic painters, Bonetti retains light effects or detail work. In addition, American Abstract Expressionist painters (twentieth century) strongly influence his work, and Gerhard Richter (contemporary German artist) remains his greatest inspiration.
Bonetti creates a new image in parallel with reality that represents the fragility of illusions and the ever-changing world. He leaves his work open to interpretation. His painting asks a question and it is up to the viewer to propose the answers.
