Painting Concerto Pierrot la lune by Reymond Pierre | Painting Figurative Music Oil

Painting Concerto Pierrot la lune by Reymond Pierre | Painting Figurative Music Oil

Description artwork

The "Concert with Pianist" is a work that oscillates between abstraction at the edges and naïve art at the center, alongside the depiction of the musicians. The motif is painted with a palette knife and oil paint, playing on the contrast between warm colors (shades of red) and cool (shades of blue and green). The square heads of the figures are inspired by Nicolas de Staël’s “Parc des Princes” series. The composition highlights the central pianist and plays on circularity (the formation) and verticality (the background). The conductor, isolated and in a commanding pose, concludes the lower section of the work. The concert is titled “Pierrot la lune” because of these lunar blues!

Reymond Pierre
Reymond Pierre flag_frFrance
Set up in his workshop in Chambéry in Savoie department, Pierre has worked to produce his works since 2004. The French literature teacher, who has taught in several high schools in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region for many years, chose to improve his knowledge by enrolling in a course dedicated to computer assisted creative techniques. Upon graduating in 2000, Pierre would integrate the IT service of a large company, which would allow him to earn his stripes in this new skill domain. A keen drawer since he was a child, the artist's attention has turned over the years to oil painting. Performing directly on the canvas support without any sketching beforehand, Pierre interprets the world around him from a multitude of colourful touches, composing his pictorial works "principally with volume, accumulations of volumes and nuances of shades that define at the same time perspective, horizon and motifs".
