Caitrin Alexandre, heir to a family love of creativity, immersed herself in the world of paper from childhood. Her first creative steps, shaping and gluing paper, evolved over the years. She began playing with light and shadow at the age of 20, with the intention of adding character to a paper lampshade she had just made for her home. After a career in film and interior design, Caitrin returned to her first passion in 2016, devoting herself fully to paper sculpture, creating delicate and poetic bas-reliefs.
Caitrin Alexandre's artistic universe is inspired by Art & Craft, notably William Morris, and Impressionists such as Monet and Berthe Morisot, whose softness and work on reflections she appreciates. Her creative process begins with meticulous outline drawing, using scalpels as brushes to sculpt the sheet of paper. For floral motifs, she lets her instincts guide her, creating captivating textures and shadow effects. Caitrin is also influenced by the abstract expressionism of Cy Twombly and Lee Krasner. Her artistic approach, marked by a classic, uncluttered aesthetic, aims to make the invisible visible and to touch the viewer with the simplicity and depth of her works.
