If architecture gives meaning to space, then Art (...) is the most beautiful of deceptions, for it gives us the illusion of truth -Paul Valéry
City Cité is a Brussels-based artist with a rich background in architecture. Her artist's name comes from a series of canvases created in a moment of introspection. She transforms her professional view of the city into sensitive, vibrant works inspired by urban planning and art history. Her work highlights the hidden poetry of industrial landscapes and urban spaces, with an approach that is both aesthetic and social.
City Cité draws its inspiration from the urban environment: the lights, the reflections, the forgotten structures of everyday life. She observes the city with the rigor of an architect and the sensitivity of an artist. Influenced by Anselm Kiefer and the Flemish masters, she combines social messages, rich textures and bold aesthetics. Her technique is based on scraping, acrylic sprays and relief pastes, using technical drawing tools rather than brushes. She explores perspectives, luminous contrasts and the raw materiality of the city to reveal its hidden beauty.
