Foucras François

"The art of painting, when all is said, is but the art of expressing the invisible by means of the visible."

The wonderful islands of Polynesia and Hawaii inspired François in the 1980s. Just like his beloved Paul Gauguin, the Drôme-born artist fell in love with the exotic scenery and started out with acrylic before moving into oil. He returned to France a few years later to exhibit his Pacific pieces in a local gallery. He began exhibiting his work in galleries in Provence and the Rhône-Alpes region and drew acclaim. California's famous La Jolla Gallery in San Diego selected his large pieces in 2018 but the pandemic put the brakes on the much-anticipated exhibition.
