Creation doesn't necessarily come in the form of brushing or writing a novel. This is a lifestyle. It is a process in which we combine what is available with new ideas, associations and concepts. The result of this process is something new that expresses our uniqueness. It is unification and search for new solutions. It is juggling and playing with what gives us life.
Gregory Goy has always had a passion for drawing. He joined the drawing club at the youth centre where he learnt the basics of drawing. He didn't start oil painting until he was 20 with the mastekhin technique that has become his favourite tool. The artist began exhibiting his work whilst still studying at university. Gregory Goy then spent 8 years working as a civil servant before leaving his job to devote himself to his painting career when he was 28.
The artist mainly uses a palette knife for oil painting. Cities are his favourite subject and a major source of inspiration that regularly appears in his work. His bright pieces celebrate cityscapes and depict the hectic pace of life by day and night, people moving non-stop, cars driving relentlessly on motorways and the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives and environments. The artist has painted very different cities and countries: Denmark, Germany, America, the Netherlands, Czech Republic and many more. He plays on reflections, contrasts and light to give a sense of motion to his pieces and capture the constant movement in the cities.
