"Nothing is absolute. Everything changes, everything moves, everything turns, everything flies and disappears." Frida Kahlo
Between light and shadow, Mélanie Dubois's painting takes us into a world where the wind plays with the trace. It offers us a gentle blend of assertive pictorial touches and a contrasting color palette. Whether abstract or figurative, her work highlights the impermanence of all things and the ephemeral beauty present in the perpetual movement of life. She has been in contact with art since childhood, observing her mother's pastel drawings. In 2023, her painting "Expérience" won over the jury at the Salon du Bon Vouloir in Mons.
Mélanie seeks to imprint energies and emotions on matter, transforming them into colorful movement. She finds inspiration in nature, urban landscapes, music and dreams. She is particularly fond of Impressionist painting. Using acrylic paint worked with a knife, she likes to convey the contrast of her inner landscapes. Lively knife strokes express the feeling she perceives when confronted with the grandeur of nature or the vibrations of music. She likes the idea that this sensation is imprinted in the medium and received anew by the viewer, who associates it with his or her own experience. She also works in charcoal for female portraits, which she sets in a case of paint sculpted by colorful movements.
