The world that I represent in my work is floating, transparent, ephemeral, where beings and things are seen as in a dream.
With a military father who is also a painter, Sablyne inherited her passion for visual artists and spent her childhood traveling around the world. When she turned twenty, she attended The École Supérieure d'Art (Higher School of Art) in Annecy and finished her training by attending the school of applied arts of Lyon Bellecour.
From 2009 to 2011, Sablyne went to live in New Caledonia, in the city of Noumea where she is inspired by Indonesian art. "Thanks to this rich and colourful time, in this far away land, my work expanded to mixed techniques and the formidable possibilities they had to offer." When she returned to France, she settled in Isère, near the thermal resort of Uriage-lesBains, where she has created and directed a workshop, since 2012, for mixed media for children and adults.
Using mixed techniques, Sablyne has created, over the years, a personal approach that brings together collages, acrylic painting, dry pastels, ink drawings and photography. Her artistic approach is not set and the artist adapts her practice to the subject she wishes to work on, opting sometimes to draw using Indian ink or to make mixed installations.
Inspired by "shadow puppets from Wayang Kulit in Java [Sablyne produces] multi-coloured habitats populated by characters with multi-coloured hairstyles and clothes." She makes her compositions with natural materials from which the simple faces of women emerge, gracefully sketched and always positioned to face sideways. In order for the piece to transmit only pure emotion to the viewer, the artist focuses her attention on the subjects' attitude and opts for the single stroke.
